Danville-Boyle all-stars win in rout

LAWRENCEBURG - The Danville-Boyle County 9- and 10-year-old all-star team finished the opening round of its district Little League tournament with a perfect record after defeating Woodford County American 12-2 in four innings Wednesday.

Danville-Boyle (4-0) got a complete game win from pitcher Hunter Sheegog, who gave up just two hits.

Lucas Edelen had two singles in the game, and Logan Smith and Clay Young each tripled.

Blake Mason, Max Meckes, Nolan Theaker, Devin True and Casey Whittle had one hit each.

The Danville-Boyle team advances to a single-elimination tournament with three other teams, which begins Saturday. The winner of Sunday's championship game qualifies for the state tournament.

Mercer 12s lose

At Lexington, the Mercer County 11- and 12-year-old all-stars lost 4-3 to Anderson County in seven innings Thursday at Gardenside Park.


Addam Gooch took the loss, giving up two hits and one run in 1 2/3 innings while striking out two. He came on in relief of starter Matthew Honchel, who gave up three runs and six hits in five innings, striking out four.

Chatham Lynn had two singles, Zeke Edwards had a triple and two RBIs and Jarrod Carter and Gooch each singled.
