Danville City Commissioners shelled out $20,000 Monday to build a concrete pad for a skatepark in Millennium. Parks and Recreation will chip in $1,325 to cover the remaining cost of materials, and the county will build it.
The city has also committed $45,000 to purchase equipment to put in the park after three companies brought their gear to town for skaters to test last week. The community will pitch in to install the equipment, which is slated for August.
Commissioners expect to vote on the equipment bids at 5:30 p.m. July 26. The city is conducting a poll of residents on which company's equipment to install at the park. The poll is on the city's Web site, http://ci.danville.ky.us.
