Three people were injured, two seriously, when two cars collided Thursday near downtown Liberty.
The accident occurred about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Hustonville and Allen streets, said Scott Terry, an EMT with the Casey County Ambulance Service. Two crash victims were airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Terry said, and another was taken to Casey County Hospital for treatment.
The identities of those injured was not available this morning.
Terry said a car carrying two people apparently pulled out from Allen Street into the path of a pickup truck traveling on Hustonville Street, where the speed limit is 35 mph. Both people in the car were airlifted to Lexington, he said.
"It was a powerful crash," said Terry, adding that such serious accidents don't often occur within city limits. "Either there was probably some extra speed involved or it was a really unlucky hit."
