Former Centre College soccer player Jay Hoffman has been selected to replace Gina Nicoletti as the school's head women's soccer coach.
In addition to coaching soccer, Hoffman will serve as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach and teach in the department's health and human performance program.
"Jay was the perfect fit for our needs," Centre athletic director Brian Chafin said. "He's first and foremost an excellent teacher, an experienced soccer coach and he was a standout tennis player in high school. If he had not played soccer at Centre he most likely would have been on the tennis team."
Hoffman, an assistant coach with the Centre men last season, was a regional All-American on the men's soccer team from 1992-95. He captained the 1995 team that went 17-1-1 and upset the reigning national champions, Bethany, with a goal that he scored in overtime.
