A man charged with killing a police officer in Tennessee earlier this week used to live in Lincoln County.
James Lee Fitzgerald, 25 of Somerset, formerly resided in Hustonville and Stanford, according to records at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. He was charged with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault Monday after the semi-truck he was driving struck Officer Christy Dedman, who had stopped to help a motorist on Interstate 40 in Tennessee.
Special Deputy Karen Lakes said Pulaski County had asked Lincoln authorities to serve failure to appear and cold check warrants on Fitzgerald at 137 Walnut St. in Hustonville, but Fitzgerald no longer lived there.
Deputies also served an eviction notice on Fitzgerald in February when he lived on Ky. 3249, Stanford, Lakes said.
Fitzgerald is currently being held in Tennessee on a $3 million bond.
