Conservation district offers cost-share
The Boyle County Conservation District is offering cost-share assistance for the construction of heavy-use areas. The pads are constructed by using geo-textile fabric and rock to help control muddy conditions during winter feeding.
The cost-share will be 50 percent up to $800. Applicants who are approved will have until June 30, 2005, to complete the practice.
Sign up is at the Conservation District office on the bypass between Aug. 1-15. For more information, call 859-238-7461, ext. 3.
Local FSA elections approaching
Local farmers are encouraged to participate in the election of the Farm Service Agency county committees. Any agricultural producer who resides within the local administrative area or who is participating or cooperating in an FSA program may become a nominee.
Sept. 3 is the last day to file nomination forms and Oct. 1 is the final date to register with local FSA office to vote. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters Nov. 8 and ballots must be returned to the local FSA office by Dec. 6.
