Back to School Bash is Thursday

LIBERTY - A Back to School Bash for all Casey County Elementary School students is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Gate Way Park. Books donated through the Reading is Fundamental project will be given to all students. Representatives from Casey County family resource and youth services centers will be available.

An open house also is planned Monday for Casey County Middle School students. Students will be given packets of information about what's going on at the school and to get their schedules.

Seventh-graders are invited to come between 7-8 p.m., and eighth-graders are scheduled between 7:15-8:15 p.m.

Units needed for military parade

Entries for the second annual "Celebrating American Heroes" military appreciation day parade are needed. The day-long celebration is planned Sept. 11 in downtown Danville.


Events will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by entertainment and speakers. The day will conclude with a street dance at 6 p.m.

Command Sgt. Maj. Otis Smith Jr. of Fort Knox will be featured speaker.

Families and friends of current military personnel, Veterans of Foreign Wars members, retired military, re-enactors, floats with a patriotic theme and other entries honoring military, past and present, are encouraged to participate.

A Lincoln County property transfer in Sunday's paper was incorrect due to a reporter's error. The correct transfer is Craig K. Carrier to Stacy A. Carrier, lot in Dix River Estates, separation agreement; fair cash value, $100,000.
