A Junction City man who led Danville police on a car chase, drew fire from an officer whom he allegedly tried to run over, and escaped on foot was arrested Tuesday after he turned himself in.
Christopher Lee Wilson, 19, of 147 S. Lucas St., is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree fleeing and evading. He is being held in the Boyle County Detention Center this morning. No bond has been set.
The chase began about 1 a.m. Tuesday when officer David Prather tried to pull over a 1985 Cadillac on Perryville Road near the viaduct for driving without headlights. A check of the license plate on the car did not match the Cadillac, police said.
The driver refused to stop and led Prather on a short chase down West Lexington Avenue to the dead end of the street. When Prather got out of his cruiser and began to approach the vehicle, "the suspect turned the car around and drove at the officer. In self-defense, Prather fired two shots into the fender of the car, causing the perpetrator to swerve away," a press release from the Danville Police Department states.
