LIBERTY - Application will be made for a $975,000 grant to help expand the Liberty Water Tanks Co., a subsidiary of Tarter Gate Co. in Dunnville.
Casey Fiscal Court agreed Monday night to apply for the Community Development Block Grant through Lake Cumberland Area Development District. If approved, the grant will be used to pay for equipment for the water tank operation.
County Judge-Executive Ronald Wright said the operation will create 50 jobs at the plant in the city's industrial site south of town. The grant, with a low interest rate, will be repaid by Tarter Gate.
Wright said during a public hearing Monday that the application is due by Jan. 5. No one except the Fiscal Court attended the hearing. Anyone who wishes to comment about the grant may do so by Aug. 16 at Judge-Executive Wright's office.
