The event is conducted by the Tobacco Advisory Committee of the University of Kentucky/Garrard County Cooperative Extension Service and is sponsored by contributions from local businesses, financial institutions and area tobacco warehouses. Cash prizes totaling $1,150 will be awarded with distribution as follows:
Champion: $500 and plaque
Runner-up: $250 and plaque
Third place: $150
Fourth place: $100
Fifth place: $50
Rookie-of-the-year: $100 and plaque
Runner-up rookie: $50 and plaque
The farm is about 10 miles northwest of Lancaster and about 21/2 miles off of Ky. 34 on Fisher Ford Road.
Fraternity honors Danville man
Former Beta Theta Pi general secretary Jerry M. Blesch, a 1960 graduate of Centre College, was presented the Francis Wayland Shepardson award Sunday at the 165th General Convention of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity in Atlanta, Ga.
Blesch and his wife Karen live in Danville where he is on the Centre College Alumni Board. He is active with Habitat for Humanity and is a frequent lecturer and motivational speaker.
Commodities to be distributed
LIBERTY - Commodities will be distributed to income-eligible Casey Countians from 9 a.m-4 p.m. Wednesday at Casey County Recycling Center, 1175 Campbellsville St. Recipients should bring their own containers.
Stanford High plans reunion
STANFORD - In observance of the 100th anniversary of the first graduating class of Stanford High School, a school reunion is being planned for 5:30 p.m. June 25, 2005, at Danville Convention Center for everyone who attended the school and their spouses.
