Former Boyle County Middle School teacher Mark Starr pleaded not guilty federal child pornography charges Friday in U.S. District Court in Lexington.
Starr, 33, was indicted last month on 11 counts that accuse him of possessing and producing images of young girls engaged in sexually explicit conduct for interstate distribution and other related charges. He faces similar state charges in Boyle County Circuit Court.
According the Lexington Herald-Leader, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge James B. Todd set a trial date for Oct. 4, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Wohlander said he and defense attorney James Melville were discussing a possible plea agreement.
Starr taught in the Boyle system for four years before being fired earlier this year.
