FRANKFORT - Greg Coker of Harrodsburg has been appointed to the Kentucky Public Service Commission, Gov. Ernie Fletcher announced.
Coker has extensive business experience on both the state and federal level and recently served as vice president of External Affairs for ALLTEL Communications. Previously, Coker had served, since 1990, in several public policy positions with BellSouth.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to serve the people of Kentucky and I am honored to receive this appointment," said Coker. "I am anxious to provide my skills and experience to Governor Fletcher's administration and I look forward to working with the PSC."
Coker, 40, is a native of Simpson County and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Kentucky University. Coker is a Leadership Kentucky boardmember and is also involved in numerous other civic organizations, including the Boyle and Mercer County Chambers of Commerce and the Kentucky Industrial Development Council. Coker is the founder of the bi-partisan group, Young Political Leaders of Kentucky and is a board member for the Kentucky Center for Public Issues.
