Sept. 11, 2004, will be a day with a two-fold meaning: It is a day Danville and Boyle County can show their support for our military, past and present, as well as remember those who died on Sept.. 11, 2001.
There will be a military parade in Danville on that day. Many of our troops will be there - those who have returned from Iraq as well as those veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, etc. Equipment our soldiers use will be on display. There will be a possible fly-over by USAF/ANG jets and a few surprises. There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m., a parade about 10 a.m., music, guests and more. A memorial garden will be set up in Weisiger Park with a flag for each Boyle County soldier who has given all for our freedom. Flags will be available for family and friends of anyone they wish to honor.
