Man wrecks SUV while trying to jump bridge

McKINNEY - A Danville man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police say he tried to jump a bridge Saturday night in Lincoln County.

Brandon Smith, 21, told police he was attempting to jump a bridge on Peyton Well Road at 7:30 p.m. when he lost control of the 1998 Dodge Durango, overturning it.

Smith and two passengers, Andrea Wray and Shane Hale, were transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Smith was not wearing a seat belt and had been ejected from the vehicle, sustaining head and ankle injuries. The extent of the passengers' injuries was not available.


Lincoln County Fire Station 4, McKinney Fire Department and McKinney Rescue were on the scene with state Trooper Sonny Dunaway.

House burns in Lincoln County

STANFORD - Three Lincoln County fire departments reported to a house fire near the 1400 block of Pine Grove Road about 10 p.m. Saturday.

According to emergency dispatchers, the caller reported smoke coming from the attic. On the scene were stations 1, 2 and 6 as well as East End Ambulance Service, which transported one person. Additional information was not available.
