LIBERTY - A father is accused of shooting his son with a shotgun in a domestic dispute Sunday on Upper Brush Creek Road, state police reported.
Walter Brooks, 78, is charged with one count of first-degree assault and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
His son, Junior Lee Brooks was treated and released at the Casey County Hospital. The three witnesses were uninjured.
Junior Brooks had been shot in the back, said investigating Trooper Duane Foley, as he went into the house to call police after Walter Brooks allegedly shot once over his head.
"He's lucky, cause only three pellets hit him in his left shoulder," Foley said, "and one grazed him on the left jaw."
Junior Brooks had refused transport by EMS, said Foley, and drove himself to the hospital. Foley's investigation into the shooting was assisted by Sgt. Jeff Suratt and the Casey County Sheriff's Department. No bond has been set for Walter Brooks at the Casey County Jail. The incident is still under investigation.
