SOMERSET - Garrard County fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game, but couldn't get the winning goal in a 2-2 tie with Corbin Wednesday in the Pulaski Cup.
The game was ruled a tie in regulation, and no tie-breakers were held.
Corbin led 1-0 at the half and scored its second goal about 10 minutes into the second half. Garrard coach Jon Martin said his team took too long to get going.
"The comeback was very exciting, but our lack of focus and intensity led to the 2-0 deficit," Martin said. "We got off the bus thinking we could just walk onto the field and win the game. These guys have to realize they have to work hard the entire team they're out there."
The Golden Lions (2-0-1) got two goals from the combination of Cory Horn and Jacob Denny in a two-minute span to tie the game. With 15 minutes to play, Horn crossed a ball to Denny that he put in the goal for a 2-1 score. Just two minutes later, Horn sent another cross that Denny headed into the net.
