Chemical spray used in Harrodsburg arrest

HARRODSBURG - Harrodsburg police used chemical spray Tuesday to subdue a man they were trying to arrest on a burglary charge.

Winfield Williams was charged with second-degree burglary and resisting arrest, according to a police report. He was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center.

Police said that Barbara Brownie, 82, of Fort Street, told officers that Williams entered her residence and stole $29 in one dollar bills from her purse. Officers later located Williams on Forsythe Street with a roll of 20 one dollar bills and tried to place him under arrest.

Williams resisted and turned on the officers, who used chemical spray and an arm-bar take down to bring him in to custody, the report said. Officers Robert Ladd and Jay Eldridge are investigating.

Obscuring identity of auto charge filed

Carman was in possession of a 1986 Chevrolet S-10 pickup which reportedly had a vin plate that had been tampered with. The report by Trooper Kendra Wilson stated that the plate appeared to have been replaced and the vin plate in the glove compartment did not match with the vin plate in the driver's side dash. The sticker on the inside of the driver's side door jam also had been painted.
