Butchertown Country Day Festival is Saturday

The Butchertown Country Day Festival will be held 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Butchertown Community Center. Admission is free.

A quilt made by members of the community will be for sale; tickets are $1. The quilt is machine-piece and hand-quilted.

A 1988 Crown Victoria LTD also will be sold; tickets are $5. The new owner will pay for the transfer of the title and this year's taxes.

All-day events include: Music by Kentucky Strangers Band; a country store; a yard sale wagon; children's games; food for sale and booths.


Entry fee for the contests is 25 cents per person per contest.

All proceeds go to the Butchertown Community Center. For more information, call Rita Stewart at (606) 365-2447.

Here's a look at the schedule of events for Butchertown Country Day Festival:

10 a.m.: Welcome.

11 a.m.: Nail-driving contests for men and women.

11:30 a.m.: Pitching contest.

1 p.m.: Auction.

2 p.m.: Cake walk.

2:30 p.m.: Wheel hoop race.

3 p.m.: Banana-eating contest - whoever can eat two bananas the fastest.

3:15 p.m.: Hula hoop contests for adults and youth; sack race; three-legged race; egg race.

4 p.m.: Drawing for car, quilt and knife.
