Casey wins its division at Rowan tourney

MOREHEAD - Casey County won the Silver Division of the Rowan County Invitational Saturday, finishing 3-1 in the tournament.

The Rebels topped Nicholas County 25-6, 25-8 in their opener Saturday. Ellen Hogue had 13 aces and one kill, Kelli Patten had three kills and one ace and Bethany Snow had an ace.

Casey then topped Johnson Central 25-16, 25-19. Hogue had five aces and two kills, Patten had five aces and five kills, Meredith Coffey had two aces and Snow had a kill.

Casey split its first two matches Friday.

The Rebels lost to Boyd County 25-20, 26-24 in its opener, then rebounded to top Pulaski County in three games.

In the Boyd match, Hogue had five aces and two kills, Patten had two aces and three kills, Megan Byrd had five sets, Snow had three kills and an ace, Coffey had an ace and a kill and McKenzee Weddle had four sets and an ace.

Casey topped Pulaski 25-16, 21-25, 15-13. Patten had seven kills, three blocks and two aces, Snow had four aces and two kills, Byrd had five sets and an ace, Hogue had seven points, a kill and a block, and Weddle had four sets and a kill.
