Three Centre College fall athletes have been selected by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as players of the week for their respective sports.
David Horne of the men's soccer team, Eileen Schilling of the women's cross country team and Sarah Burger of the volleyball team were honored by the league for the week ending Sunday.
Horne, a sophomore stopper from Louisville, was named the men's soccer co-defensive player of the week. He helped the Centre defense hold the Colonels' first two opponents to one goal and five shots on goal, and he scored twice in a two-minute span, including the game-winning goal, in a 3-2 win over Albion Sunday.
Schilling, named the women's cross country runner of-the week, led Centre to a third-place finish in the 17-team Sewanee Invitational Saturday. The sophomore Louisville native placed fourth among 155 runners and was the first SCAC runner to finish the race.
