A standing ovation for 'Dancing at Lughnasa'

September 14, 2004

Dear Editor:

Danville is fortunate in having many fine theater opportunities and the West T. Hill Community Theatre ranks high on the list. My wife and I have enjoyed many fine evenings of good theater there.

Their current play in no exception. It stands as some of the finest theater we have seen anywhere.

"Dancing at Lughnasa" is serious drama with a slice of life we sometimes fail to recognize. The characters are all unique and the play demands much from the actors. And they did it with all the professional skills you could ask.

I hesitate to single out any one performance. Because of personal experience, I found the role of Rose by Susan Pope performed flawlessly.

A standing ovation to the theater for their performance of "Dancing at Lughnasa."

The only disappointment Saturday evening was the size of the audience. Danville, don't discourage this theater group from offering serious drama! The show runs Thursday through Saturday this week and deserves your attendance. I can guaratantee you will be richly rewarded.
