STANFORD - A Lincoln County man faces several charges after a chase that lasted more than an hour Tuesday and led officers along U. S. 27, U.S. 150 and Rice Lane section, state police said.
Police began pursuit of Sean P. Carey, 29, of 216 Scott Lane, Apt. 116 , on Scott Lane after a vehicle he was driving almost collided with Trooper B. Collins' vehicle. Collins attempted to stop the vehicle, but Carey refused to stop, state police said.
The suspect drove through several yards and fields and almost hit two children, police said. Carey abandoned his vehicle in a field and attempted to hide, but was located by helicopter. Carey got back into his vehicle and again fled.
Carey led police to U.S. 27 near Stanford and turned onto U.S. 150 East, and ran through a fence into a field off Rice Lane. Carey was arrested after police on the ground and in the helicopter disabled the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer that was apparently stolen.
