LIBERTY - Lindsay Wilson, a senior at Casey County High School, was named the 2005 Casey County Junior Miss Monday during a program at the high school.
Wilson, who received $1,200 in college scholarships, also tied for the interview award. She is the daughter of Terry and Susan Wilson. She will compete in January in the Kentucky Junior Miss program in Lexington. The Kentucky winner will go to the America Junior Miss competition in June in Mobile, Ala.
Twelve young women competed in the Junior Miss program, one of the largest groups ever, said Rita Sweeney, program chairman. "It went really well. We hope the trend will continue and hope to have more active participation next year."
The program is open to high school seniors.
In addition to more contestants this year, Sweeney said there was an increase of $800 in scholarships plus an additional thousand dollars in cash prizes.
