Casey makes school personnel changes

LIBERTY - Marcina Brown, who had been principal at Liberty Elementary School, was named federal programs/assessment coordinator for the Casey County Board of Education central office, effective Sept. 1, according to a report on personnel changes by Superintendent Linda Hatter.

Hatter announced several personnel changes at Monday's school board meeting.

Two employees, who had retired earlier, were named to part-time positions. Sharon Pierce will work 160 days as director of special education, and Dale Wilson will work 160 days as director of pupil personnel.

Cheryl Wilson was named part-time instructional assistant and part-time central office custodian; Charlene Lawhorn was named instructional assistant at Liberty Elementary; and Glenda Garrett was named instructional assistant at Middleburg Elementary.

Teachers Craig Griffin and Debra Hooper were granted continuing contracts.

Others hired at the recommendation of school councils were:

* High school: Delois Salyers, cook, and Janette Beard, special education teacher.

* Middle school, Jamie Hamblin, music teacher; Ellen Allen, cheerleading coach; and Lewis Allen, assistant football coach.


* Douglas Elementary: Brenda Buck and Marlene Wethington, instructional assistants.

* Garrett Elementary: Pat Coleman, instructional assistant; Joyce Goodlett, Susan Soule, Tammy Spears, Lisa Ware, Billye Watson, Carol Price, Lesley Wesley, Valeria Clark, Jennifer Todd, Nancy Smith and Marlene Atwood, extended service teachers; Dana Morgan, Jean Hatter, Janet Morris, Pat Coleman and Susan Godbey, extended service instructional aides; and Janet Morris, Dana Morgan, Jean Hatter, Valeria Clark and Lisa Ware, Reading First after-school services.

* Liberty Elementary: Larry Morgan, teacher and assistant principal.

* Middle school: Shelly Hill, teacher.

Resignations accepted were: Kevin Eads, seventh-grade girl's basketball coach; Shawn Conley, special education teacher at the high school; and Ellen Allen, middle school cheerleading coach.
