Danville's girls rout Pulaski

September 15, 2004

Danville's girls made the necessary adjustments and dominated winless Pulaski County Tuesday in a 5-1 victory.

Playing on a smaller field than they are used to, the Admirals (6-2) got two goals from Molly Pittman and a goal and an assist from Jessie Davis.

"We had the same field dimensions at Soccerama in Frankfort and have learned to adjust our game accordingly," Danville coach Mike Lauer said.

Pittman scored her two goals in the fourth and 16th minutes, with Tasha Milby assisting on the second. Dawn Schulz added her second goal of the year with an assist for Davis in the 31st minute.

In the second half, Alyssa Trueblood scored her first goal, an unassisted one in the 53rd minute, and Davis rounded out Danville's scoring with a goal in the 64th minute off a Caroline Stroup assist.

Pulaski (0-5) scored its only goal with 10 minutes to play. Danville outshot Pulaski 33-2.

"On defense, the midfield and defenders did a great job stopping the Pulaski attack," Lauer said.

Garrard County 2, Pulaski Southwestern 2 - At Lancaster, a late penalty allowed Pulaski Southwestern's girls the game-tying goal Tuesday.

With two minutes, 30 seconds left in the game, Garrard (1-4-1) was whistled for pushing in the box and Southwestern's Casey Smith scored on the ensuing penalty kick to tie the game at two goals apiece.

Smith also scored the first goal for Southwestern (2-2-2), with 1:30 to play in the first half.

Junior Ashley Meadows and senior Chelsea Denny scored seven minutes apart in the second half to give Garrard a 2-1 lead.

Jordan Smith had four saves in goal for the Golden Lions.
