Mary Hagy of Loretto was voted the winner of "The Peoples' Choice Award" at the closing of Centenary United Methodist Church's inaugural national exhibit, "Let There Be Light."
Her large oil on canvas, "A Quiet Winter's Day," which depicts a rural Kentucky landscape, won the artist a cash prize of $200.
The exhibit showcased the work of artists from 11 states; regional artists from Kentucky included Ruth Betts of Liberty, Elsie Kay Harris of Lexington, J. H. Leigh of Crab Orchard, Linda Kulman of Irvine and Geri Trinler of Lancaster. Juried artists from Danville included: Donna Clore, Judy Schaefer, Nancy Beresford, David Farmer, Jack Carey Sr., Ted Caldwell, Virginia Robertson, Gay McGuire, Tillie Sowders and Mary Ruth Maggard.
