In defense of the grandmother attack, I feel that the media and school system have overreacted. If the principal and superientendent had taken of the matter with the bully, it would never have escalated that far.
Look at the scenario here: male bully attacking a young female. She cries out for help to the principal. The principal should've called both of them into the office to try to eliminate the problem. The problem wasn't resolved and the female was still being harassed. The grandmother came to school with intentions of trying to get the matter resolved the right way through the school system, but the system failed not just her, but her granddaughter.
Pearl is not a violent person. She only wanted the bully to stop harassing her child and she did what her natural instinct told her to do because she felt threatened by the bully. I feel the school system was only trying to cover themselves because they knew that they should have solve the problem before the grandmother took it upon herself to save her child.
