This talk about a teachers strike does not sit well with me and a lot of other teachers in the state of Kentucky. Two hundred Jefferson County teachers or the KEA do not speak for all the teachers in Kentucky.
First of all the state needs a budget. Governor Fletcher, the senators, and the representatives should have stayed in Frankfort until they had a budget. I think it should be a law that if the state does not have a budget, they cannot go home until they get one. If we had a budget there might be more money for insurance for state employees.
Secondly, the horse has already escaped, so now KEA wants to fix the hole. This should have been addressed eight to 10 months ago when we first heard about the insurance rate increase and while our senators and representatives were still in Frankfort.
