As a teenager growing up in Danville, I didn't view my dad's thriftiness as much of a virtue! While he always provided for the things I needed, my dad, Gordon Howe, simply did not believe in wasting money. He has always recognized that resources are precious, and he strives to make the best use of what is available.
Now that I'm an adult, my view of my dad has changed - I admire tremendously the careful financial principles I have observed in him. And, as a taxpayer, I wish that all public officials would show the high standard of fiscal responsibility that my dad has demonstrated.
His lifelong personal and professional dedication to controlling wasteful spending is just one of the reasons that I think my dad, Gordon Howe, would be an excellent Danville city commissioner. In addition to his strong sense of fiscal responsibility, he has a deep love for the city of Danville and takes pride in how the city has grown and developed over time. As an involved citizen, he has demonstrated a commitment to investigating the complex issues facing Danville and gives thoughtful consideration to how the city can best move forward and remain a strong, wonderful place to live!
