What a magnificant sight! On Sept. 15, the Heart of Kentucky United Way held its annual Day of Caring. This year more than 380 volunteers gathered to work on more than 60 service projects for non-profit organizations in Lincoln, Mercer, and Boyle counties, making a difference in people's lives and shaping our community.
Thanks to all the volunteers, the sponsors, and the industrial, business, and educational communities for leading their employees to participate in this day of service.
I also would like to thank the Heart of Kentucky United Way (Janie, Jane, Jennifer, LeeAnn, and Crystal) and the Parks and Recreation Department (John, Tommy, and the guys) for all their hard work and guidance. To the committee members that gave selflessly of their time, secured sponsors, gathered donations, and prepared breakfast and lunch, I send a heartfelt thank-you. The day went smoothly thanks to each of you. The day was quite a success - allowing us to truly see that community matters!
