Apple Festival winners named

LIBERTY - Winners in the annual Casey County Apple Festival contests include:

Frog jumping: Luke Atwood's frog jumped 8 feet and 11 inches to win the top spot; Macie Drake's frog jumped 7 feet and 8 inches to win second; and Taylor Hayes' frog jumped into third place with his 7-foot 7-inch leap.

Hula Hoop: Christian Lee, Brittney Raney and Tiara Carman tied for first; Jenna Rousey, second, and Morgan Carter, third.

Spelling bee: First and second grade, first through third place: Alexia Hood, Middleburg Elementary; Leann Durham, Phelps elementary; Tyler Luttrell, Liberty Elementary.

Third and fourth grade: Sarah Coffman, Middleburg; Gabriel Martin, Galilean Christian Academy; Jeremy Johnson, Liberty Elementary.

Fifth and sixth grade: Sharlimar Durham, Middleburg; Brooke Curry, Douglas; and Andrew Walters, Liberty.

Seventh grade: Ben Lutz, Casey County Middle School; Hannah Coleman, Galilean Christian Academy; and Katy Dean, Middleburg.

Eighth grade: Jared Lee, Galilean Christian Academy; Kelsie Haste, middle school; and Katie Allen, Galilean Christian Academy.


Fifteen trophies were given to winners in the 31 spelling bee entries.
