At least one person was injured Tuesday night in a four-vehicle, chain reaction accident that stretched out about 200 yards along Ky. 34 near Stony Point Road, Boyle County Deputy Jimmy Wilcher said.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m., when a woman apparently fell asleep at the wheel, crossed over the median and struck another vehicle, Wilcher said. An approaching car ran off the road and through a fence, Wilcher said, while another driver lost control of his vehicle while trying to steer clear of the accident, causing it to flip over. That driver was ejected and pinned beneath his vehicle, the deputy said.
The pinned driver was extricated by emergency workers and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Wilcher said.
Further information about the accident and other possible injuries was not available by press time today.
