I am a registered Democrat but have voted for some Republicans in the past. However, I have never voted for a Republican for president. I had begrudgingly accepted John Kerry as my Democratic nominee. I was more impressed with Wesley Clark and Dennis Kucinich, but by the time Kentucky's primary rolled around, John Kerry had sown up the nomination.
However, after the debate on Thursday, I was finally completely won over by Kerry. At first I was only voting for him because I was angry and only wanted George W. out of the White House. Now I am voting for John Kerry because he is a smart, articulate, and dynamic individual. On Thursday, I finally got the answer I wanted to hear from John Kerry about his "flip-flopping," as the GOP puts it. George W. reminded Kerry that he voted for the war. John Kerry finally defended himself several times. He voted for the war based on the information that he had - the same flawed intelligence that George W. had. The only difference now is that Kerry realizes this fact and has altered his view accordingly. He also reminded the president that his vote for force was one to use force as a last resort. The president never attempted any diplomatic solution to Iraq. He only invaded.
