Abby Parsons got a hat trick to lead the Garrard County girls to a 3-1 victory over Mercer County Thursday night at Harrodsburg.

Parsons' three goals assured Garrard (6-8-2) of another meeting with Mercer (4-12) just over a week from now in the first round of the 29th District Tournament. The Lady Lions earned the No. 4 seed; Mercer will be fifth.

Parsons scored on a throw-in from Ashley Meadows three minutes into the second half to erase Mercer's 1-0 lead. She put Garrard ahead 12 minutes into the half on a pass from Chelsea Denny, then scored on a direct kick with about 16 minutes to play.

Lindsey Alford scored Mercer's only goal with two seconds left in the first half.

The Lady Scotties outshot Garrard 19-11. Garrard goalkeeper Jordan Smith had 10 saves; Mercer's Whitney Cecil had two.

Marion County 3, Danville 0 - At Danville, Danville (8-6-1) was shut out for the second straight game.

The Admirals have been outscored 8-0 in their last two games against Marion (8-8) and West Jessamine.

"That really concerns me," Danville coach Gary Reynolds said. "Our scoring has gone stone cold."

Danville outshot Marion 17-6.

"We controlled everything that was going on, but we could not find the back of the net," Reynolds said.

Danville's missed shots included a penalty kick stopped by Marion goalkeeper Aaron Crum with about four minutes left.

Junior John Elder got all three of the Knights' goals, scoring with 17:10 and 12:40 left in the first half and 1:54 left in the second half. The last two were unassisted.
