I am another Casey Countian who is disappointed in Todd Kleffman and his recent opinion column decrying the good folks of our county.
I would like to think I am a reasonably intelligent person. I chose to move back to Casey County after spending almost 35 years away from it. I have never regretted my decision. In fact, I am extremely happy and content living among people who are kind and honorable, who want to know you, who help you in times of trouble and grief, who offer a hand even when you don't really need it, who sincerely care about you. I could list many examples of these acts of kindness, including those performed by Mr. Kleffman's own mother.
When I was a small child a "Klucker" (KKK) appeared in Casey County and was passing out information at the end of the old iron bridge over the Green River between Yosemite and Middleburg. My father stopped to see what the stranger was doing and when he found out, he told the man that people in Casey County didn't support his views. He urged the stranger in very strong terms to take his pamphlets and get out of Casey County before another Casey Countian used stronger methods of persuasion. The man left.
