The Boyle County High School marching band placed third at the state championships Saturday in Bowling Green.
The school is in the Class A division, and directed by Tim Blevins.
Mercer County High School's band placed fourth in the Class AA division. Jeff Meadows is the band director.
The competition is put on by the Kentucky Music Educators Association.
Adair County placed first in Class AA, and Williamstown High School, in Grant County, was the top band in Class A.
There were 144 bands qualified for the competition, and 8,500 students marched. Class A has 40 or fewer musicians, and Class AA has 41 to 60 musicians.
