On Wednesday, House Bill 1 was proposed in the special legislative session called for by Governor Fletcher to try to fix the insurance crisis state and school employees are facing in Kentucky.
House Bill 1 does everything the Kentucky Education Association asked the General Assembly to do for state employees. It reduces our costs, restores our benefits and redesigns the process so we don't get surprised like this again. If it passes the House and the Senate in this form and is signed by the Governor, there will be no need for a work stoppage on October 27.
KEA and all school employees would be grateful to superintendents, school boards, parents, retired teachers and state employees, if they would join us in asking the Senate to pass this bill in its current form so we can ALL get back to the business of KEEPING KENTUCKY LEARNING.
