Kerry is best able to end the war in Iraq

October 19, 2004

Dear Editor:

This letter is in support of those individuals fighting in Iraq on behalf of our country. Among my most treasured blessings, I am grateful for the freedom I enjoy in this country and recognize that it comes to me only as a result of the sacrifices made by those who came before myself.

Because I teach preschool children, I have observed, firsthand, some of the devastation of children, spouses and parents having to do without their most precious resource ... the presence of a loved one.

Children in our homeland are living with more instability and devastation than ever. They struggle with chronic stress due to either the immediate fear of losing a loved one or maybe the vague uneasiness of just living in the shadow of a war few of us understand.

Because it is my belief that the individuals to whom we all owe so much deserve to be out of harm's way and home with their families, I urge you to vote for John Kerry on Nov. 2. He is best able to gain the support of other nations and finish what should never have been started in Iraq. The people of Iraq have been flung from one terror to another, and it is not because America means harm: It is because we are giving them the wrong kind of help.
