CAMPBELLSVILLE - Danville scored first but not again in a 3-1 loss to Marion County Thursday night in the 29th District Tournament championship.
Chris Beto scored the only goal for Danville (10-10-1) with 24 minutes left in the first half off an assist from Jeff Ricker.
Marion (11-8) tied the game when John Elder scored on an indirect kick in the second half, then took the lead with goals by Joern Queppers with 26:40 remaining and Josh Culver on a penalty kick with 17:25 to play.
"I think emotionally we were down from last night's (semifinal) victory over Garrard (County)," Danville assistant coach Keith Madill said. "We just did not seem to be able to muster the effort for the game. We hope to regroup for the regionals next week."
