Dedman has record of community service

October 24, 2004

Dear Editor:

Milward Dedman and I have been close friends for many years, and he is a very modest person. The reason I am writing this letter is to tell you about the Milward Dedman that I know.

He and his wife, Kathy, have both been active in our community. A few years ago there was a community effort to build a much-needed playground at Young's Park in Harrodsburg. They helped lead the construction of this playground, which was built strictly by volunteers in less than a week.

This is just one example of the dedication they both have to our families, children and community.

Kathy has always been active in her church, has volunteered at her children's school, has served on the YMCA board of directors, and has supported other organizations including Anna Elliott Bohon Woman's Club and Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Milward has served our community with the Mercer County Fair and Horse Show, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and Anderson Dean Park as a baseball coach, soccer coach and board member. He is active in his children's many activities and his church.

I know firsthand that Milward has always expressed interest in serving the public and following in his grandfather's footsteps. He and Kathy love their community and have worked to make Mercer County a better place to live and raise our families. This is why Milward is running for state representative.

I trust Milward to represent my family and values in Frankfort, and I ask you to vote for him on Nov. 2.
