The Danville City Commission turned down a proposal to study traffic downtown between St. Mildred's Court and Fourth Street that would have cost more than $9,000.
Commissioners said Monday that they had no idea that a traffic study would be so expensive.
Commissioner Terry Crowley asked that the cost of speed humps be considered. City Manager Darrell Blenniss said he would research how other cities have handled such problems.
Before the unanimous vote not to pay for a traffic study, resident James Hunn said he couldn't believe the city would even consider the study when he was still waiting for them to fix stormwater problems on East Main Street. He said he was told the city didn't have the money.
Bowling then tried to move on to the next item on the agenda, but Commissioner Jamey Gay asked the city staff to explain its progress on the East Main Street problem.
