This letter is in response to your editorial Sunday concerning replacing two Danville city commissioners. Two new commissioners are needed, but it's not commissioners Ryan Owens and Chester Kavanaugh who should be replaced.
At a city meeting on Aug. 23, a motion was made by Kavanaugh to file for a grant on behalf of Community Friends Outreach Food Bank and the Community Arts Center in the sum of $765,000. The motion was voted on by Mayor Bowling and commissioners Kavanaugh and Owens. The vote was unanimous. Commissioners Jamey Gay and Terry Crowley were not in attendance. The food bank staff was at this meeting. We were congratulated for our hard work and dedication to the needs of our community. You can imagine how happy we were. We were finally going to be able to build a building for the food and clothing bank. We could now expand to furniture and other things people would need. We were told the check was all but in the mail!
