'Who is on the Lord's side?'

October 29, 2004

Dear Editor:

"Who is on the Lord's side?" This was the question Moses asked of God's people in the book of Exodus. The question itself clearly revealed two separate groups. They were either on the Lord's side, or they were not. There was no middle ground.

I have recently read articles and seen signs in the yards of people, even Christians, supporting candidates whose platform is opposite of God's. These same people will say God's neither a Republican nor a Democrat. This may be true; however, God does not have a side. It's His Word. In His Word, God is very plain. He does not support abortion, nor does He promote the homosexual lifestyle. Rather, He tells us how to live an abundant life of blessing, with peace, honesty, and godliness.

There are others who say they don't agree with abortion or homosexual marriages, yet they prefer a candidate based on a particular economic issue. However, God says, "Righteousness exalts a nation," assuring us if we put what is right by Him first, we as a nation will be blessed.

I believe this election is very crucial and will determine the future well-being of our nation. I encourage Christians to prayerfully consider your vote on Nov. 2. Ask yourself, am I on the Lord's side?
