The Centre College music program will present its annual Fall Musicians Showcase concert at 3 p.m. today in the Audrey R. Gillespie Recital Hall on campus. Admission is free.
The concert will feature 17 student musicians, including several freshmen who are music scholarship holders. Students will perform works by Haydn, Telemann, Bach, Poulenc, Chopin, Ravel, Schumann and others.
Laurence Bitensky, assistant professor of music, says, "The annual Fall Musicians Showcase is a marvelous opportunity for students to share their many talents. We're pleased to have such a wide variety of vocalists and instrumentalists performing on violin, piano, trumpet, flute, clarinet and English horn."
Made possible by gifts from alumni, the Centre Fine Arts Scholarship in music supports students who demonstrate outstanding musical talent and promise to attend the college. These scholarships are awarded to students who show promise in music, regardless of intended major.
