Howe will restore fiscal integrity
I believe all candidates running for Danville city commissioner have the desire to serve the citizens of Danville. All have valuable skills and experience, and most have at least a basic understanding of the issues they will face over the next several years. Additionally, most believe that the public trust must be regained after the turmoil that has plagued the current administration.
In the area of fiscal responsibility, however, only one stands out. As a private citizen, Gordon Howe has spent many years investigating and communicating the lack of accountability of previous and current city policy makers regarding the misguided use of your tax dollars. He has offered sound solutions to insure commission promises of previous years were upheld. As a Parks and Recreation Department volunteer, he has spent countless hours verifying park services promised were implemented, and contracted services realized. Furthermore, he is the only candidate willing to propose a decreased and more equitable benefits package for part-time city employees at a time when available revenue must be spent on vital city projects.
