LIBERTY - An 18-year-old Bradfordsville driver has been charged with murder after a passenger in his vehicle died when a 1995 Dodge Neon crashed Sunday afternoon on Ky. 1552 eight miles north of here, state police said.
Ramiro Rojas Perez was treated for injuries at Casey County Hospital and arrested by state Trooper David Gibbs on one count each of murder and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was lodged in Casey County Detention Center.
Perez is charged in the death of 28-year-old Ciro Alvarez, also of Bradfordsville, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Casey County Coroner Tommy Clark. An autopsy was scheduled today to determine the cause of death. The accident occurred as Perez was driving along Ky. 1552 and lost control of his vehicle in a curve, causing it to run off the road, down and embankment and overturn, according to Gibbs. The victim was ejected from the vehicle and landed in a creek with the car on top of him. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
