Casey to clean up roadside dump

November 02, 2004|BRENDA S. EDWARDS

LIBERTY - Casey Fiscal Court accepted a contract Monday night with Elswick Construction Co. of Pike County to remove debris from a roadside dump.

The $42,360 bid was the lowest of five submitted for the cleanup project on Smith Road.

Judge-Executive Ronald Wright said the county's engineering firm recommended Elswick Construction for the job.

Since the bid was lower than expected, Wright said if there is money left over, it may be used to clean up another dump site.

Funding will come from a PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment) grant.

The court also approved payment of $7,450 to Ivan Greer Construction for cleaning up another roadside dump. The county will be reimbursed by PRIDE.

In other road business, Fiscal Court approved a resolution with the state Transportation Cabinet, which will provide up to $143,242 to replace bridges on Upper Brush Creek and Lee Graham roads.
