While the Danville City Commission is trying to contract out the maintance and care of Bellevue Cemetery, it needs to address the walking of dogs in the cemetery. One would think that the citizens of Danville are educated to read and obey the laws of the city posted on the fence at the entrance to the cemetery, which state "no animals allowed."
Citizens of Danville who regularly walk your dogs in the cemetery, please have some respect for our family and friends buried there and not allow your dog to use the grave sites to relieve themselves. This has been discussed with city officials, and they are unconcerned.
We visit the cemetery two or three times a month and always see someone walking their dog. The dogs are not always on a leash.
