One of the reasons Danville is such a good place to live is that it generally has had good leadership at City Hall.
Roy Arnold, who died Monday at the age of 94, was one of those good leaders.
In his 22 years as mayor, Arnold had an untarnished reputation for honesty and integrity. Even if you disagreed with him, you knew that he was doing what he thought was right for the city. There was never even the slightest hint that the decisions he made were for personal gain.
Roy Arnold was a person who loved politics and loved Danville. As a politician, he served well the city that he loved.
