Harrodsburg girl wins national coloring contest

November 09, 2004

Third-grader Amber Grigsby of Harrodsburg is the winner of Cellular One's national coloring contest, and her winning design means she and her classmates at North Washington Elementary School in Willisburg will have a pizza party and autograph session Monday hosted by Joe Nemechek, Cellular One's NASCAR driver.

Amber will receive a framed copy of her winning design, and Nemechek will sign autographs and speak with the third-grade students.

The coloring contest started in April at Texas Motor Speedway and raised more than $2,000 for The Children's Organ Transplant Association. Participants were encouraged to donate $1 per entry. The winner of the junior high and high school division, Amanda United of Curtiss, Wis., will have her design painted on the Cellular One No. 87 Monte Carlo for the Busch Series race Nov. 20 in Homestead, Fla.
